Emerson Zora Hamsa received her bachelor's degree in English Literature & Language from Marymount University (Arlington, Va) in 2000. She taught World Literature at Suitland High School from 2000-2003. In 2003, she began teaching World Literature at Thomas Edison High School in Alexandria, Virginia.
Ms. Hamsa took a break from teaching in the spring of 2003 in order to pursue a career in print journalism. She entered a journalism program for mid-career professionals at Vanderbilt University (Nashville, Tennessee). Upon completion, The New York Times Company offered her a job as a copy editor / page designer at The Tuscaloosa News (Tuscaloosa, Alabama).
Currently, Ms. Hamsa teaches English 9 and World Literature 10 at Fairfax High School in Fairfax, Virginia.
Ms. Hamsa is also a writer; her work has appeared in The Tuscaloosa Magazine. She is quietly at work on a novel.
